homines uniformis
Inspiration for this dramatic series of homoerotic artworks derives from Watson’s studio archives spanning forty-five years. Men feature in various uniforms - from a formal Royal guardsmen to a casual surfer - the artist invites the viewer to consider their dramatically different occupations, life styles and passions.
A recurring theme through the series is that of complimentary opposites. A fine example being Alexis and the King’s Trooper, which possesses a playful directness, a defiant and unashamed celebration of nudity, contrasted with formal discipline.
