This arresting scene was partly inspired by time the artist and his partner, Stephen Morgan, spent at the Spanish coastal town of Sitges in 2006. An ancient Roman marble foot dominates the foreground, whilst Morgan holds a sculpture of another sort - a lime coloured inflatable beach-bed. Their long time friend, Andrew Vance, looks out to sea as he showers under a distinctive Art Deco shower stand. Composition and colour are skillfully employed in this gently surrealist painting.
