Description

Japanese erotic art has a long history, with thousands of high quality paintings, mostly from the 17th to the 19th century. Watson's seductive new painting, A-Bay possesses many of the qualities which the Japanese were masters in - intrigue, sensuality and tenderness - differently erotic where semi dressed, rather than complete nudity, provides a heightened eroticism.

A-Bay follows the earlier and smaller sized painting, Off Duty Swim where the young soldier turns away from the viewer. Again featuring his popular muse Jamieson, this arresting painting offers the viewer his handsome profile, lost in solitary thought.

Distinguished by the bright sunlight and vast expansiveness of the location - the artist's favourite beach, Alexander Bay near Noosa in Australia. A popular gay nudist beach, A-Bay, as it is know to the locals is unique for its pristine beauty, with no man made development visible from it's shores.

In inimitable Watson style, his subject rendered exquisitely, this commanding and enigmatic artwork is a fine example of his art.
