Description

This hauntingly beautiful painting features an exquisitely rendered Alexis Caught.

Wearing only part of his rugby uniform, we are left to imagine whether the artist has captured the model in a state of dressing or undressing, with the bias of the viewer informing the interpretation.

A dazzling full moon is suspended behind cloud - strategically placed in Caught's eye-line. Watson's skill at rendering classical skies is evident in this atmospheric painting.

The sparse and simple composition, for Watson, is evocative of a moody renaissance portrait resulting in a elegantly, sensual scene, one might imagine depicted by a modern day Raphael or Bronzino.
