Description

Late afternoon sunlight bathes this tranquil and very beautiful scene of two soldiers resting before a seascape and distant mountains.

A quiet and contemplative silence exists between the two subjects who are in relaxed postures staring into the distance.  The stillness of the scene entices the viewer into a meditative state to pondering their priorities and take time out from their busy modern day lives.

This very fine painting, is one of Watson's most beautiful and evocative compositions to date which explore the unspoken love that underpins our strength of conviction in the ephemeral concept of mate-ship unique to Australia.

"I have been a proud collector of Ross' paintings for many years. His art is astounding in its beauty, emotion, and reverence for our humanity and the world we live in. His attention to the smallest details, and use of light, dark and colour, rivals art's greatest masters."
James J. O'Donnell, Patron, art collector, NYC
