Description

Dynamic energy and bright summer sunlight turbo charge this new and dazzling painting from Watson’s sell-out 010:COAST series. Featuring Sydney surfer and engineer Nathan Waudby, one of Watson’s favourite models, who has appeared in numerous artworks including the wildly popular Naked Life Guard.

In the foreground preparing his surfboard, Nathan’s relative calm and stillness is in contrast to an enthusiastic looking life guard who the artist observed making his way into the surf at Noosa Beach in Queensland, Australia.

A V-shaped pyramid created by the surfboards is employed with dramatic affect, mirroring the ocean's building waves as they break. Spot colour, a signature of Watson’s art, assists a harmonious composition and offers balance to the artwork through pistachio green, cobalt blue and exquisitely restrained spots of tangerine orange.

Watson has once again convincingly created an energetic beach scene in the genre of Naked Life Guard. This finely rendered top-tier painting will no doubt be very popular with collectors and admirers of his art.
